NATURAL ATTRACTIONS

Laurel is  blessed to have scenic ridges along Aguinaldo and Diokno Highway where a panoramic view of Taal Volcano and Taal Lake could be seen. Aside from the Taal Lake and Volcano, the Municipality of Laurel is also home to relatively hidden natural and scenic attractions that include the Malagaslas Falls, Ambon-Ambon Falls and the Antona Chapel.

1. Taal Lake

Taal Lake is a popular tourist destination thanks to its breath-taking scenery: a calm lake surrounded by the towering Tagaytay City ridge and the world's smallest volcano right at its midst. The lake is also an endemic home to the tawilis (Sardinella Tawilis), the only freshwater sardine in the world.

2. Malagaslas Falls

Malagaslas falls is situated between Barangay Paliparan and San Gabriel, Laurel, Batangas.

The freshwater from Malagaslas is crystal clear and is safe to drink.  Some huts are already set up right beside the falls which makes it ideal for picnics and weekend getaways for a small group of friends and families.

Malagaslas is derived from lagaslas (swift flow of water)--- the sound the falls make when flowing and hitting the rock formations below.

How to get there:

-Head over to the entrance of Hacienda Cascada

-Park your vehicles at the foothills

-Trek toward Malagaslas Falls (30 minutes)

*Malagaslas Falls is 10 minutes away (around 1km) from Laurel Municipal hall.

*It is best to contact a tour guide from the Municipio or Barangay hall as tourists might get lost in the winding albeit very safe trail.

3. Ambon-Ambon Falls

A few more trekking footsteps from the majestic Malagaslas is Ambon-Ambon falls.

Tourists are welcomed with a light water spray because Ambon-Ambon has two water drop-offs, the first coming from a towering boulder that showers clear waters from higher ground while the second is creating a gentle mist that greets the tourists upon their arrival. Ambon-Ambon also highlights a spectacular view as  the tunnel-like river path leading to the falls, enveloped by the trees above and the river cutting into a very large rock is nothing short of magnificent.

Like Malagaslas, Ambon-Ambon Falls is also blessed with crystal clear water which makes for a pleasurable swimming experience though the waters might get muddy, especially during the rainy season due to flooding.

How to get there:

-Head over to the entrance of Hacienda Cascada

-Park your vehicles at the foothills

-Trek toward Ambon-Ambon Falls (45 minutes)

*Ambon-ambon Falls is 25 minutes away (around 1km) from Laurel Municipal hall.

*It is best to contact a tour guide from the Municipio or Barangay hall as tourists might get lost in the winding albeit very safe trail.

3. Antona Chapel

Antona Chapel is located in Barangay San Gabriel and is only 15 minutes away from the Laurel Municipal Hall.

This cave-turned-chapel is brimming with tourists especially during the Holy Week as thousands of pilgrims visit the sacred place as part of their devotion.

How to get there:

-Head over to Laurel Municipal Hall

-Hail a tricycle that would take you directly to Antona Chapel
